About the Project: The Harbor Light Center is a residential treatment facility that provides a full range of treatment services for men and women. Treatment includes group and individual counseling, education, and job placement assistance. The development of life skills such as anger and money management is an important part of the program. In the spring of 2010 the program staff at the Harbor Light Center started The Garden Club. This trial initiative was started to help clients build confidence and skills by working with their hands. The staff and clients were thrilled by the amount of food produced and the pride they felt. The program was such a huge success that Mary Lynn Logsdon, Executive Director has added it as a permanent program to the therapy schedule. The Garden Club is a privilege that the clients are able to earn as a part of their rehabilitation at HLC. Students from the Landscape Design Program from The George Washington University have helped to design a new therapeutic garden to enhance The Garden Club program at our Harbor Light Center. This new garden space will be called The Victory Garden. We invite you to join us in this amazing project!
